If you're looking to get into BJJ, or you're an intermediate/advanced roller who wants a place to actually enjoy training without the ego-heavy intensity, this is 100% the spot. The culture here is just different — from day one I was treated like family. You've got everyone from little kids to older adults, so there's always a good mix of people to train with.

My kids are training with Professor Toshi and honestly couldn't recommend him highly enough. He's the kind of instructor who actually cares whether his students are improving, not just showing up and rolling around on the mat. The kids are learning real technique and you can see the difference.

Coach Toshi is very professional and patient. He dedicates time to each student, providing meticulous guidance and ensuring everyone truly understands every movement and detail. My grandchildren have been training with Toshi for many years — he has not only improved their technical skills but also fostered their confidence and discipline.

The Professor is knowledgeable, friendly, and always helpful, and the training environment is positive and welcoming for all skill levels. The classes are well structured, and the facilities are clean and well maintained. Plus, they have air conditioning, which makes a big difference, especially during intense sessions.

I've been training with, and taught by, Toshi since I started BJJ, and was so happy to hear he'd opened up his own myBJJ location. The entire student base are all there to support each other, getting better together. This is now one of my favourite gyms.

Professor Toshi is hands down the best — his instruction is top-tier. The facility itself is great: it's clean, has excellent air conditioning, and parking is never an issue. On top of that, the people here are incredibly nice and friendly. It's a fantastic environment to train in.

Questions, answered

These four come up more than anything else. There are another thirteen on the full FAQ page.

Two students gripping each other's gi collars before a drill
Do I need any experience or fitness to start?

None at all. You build the fitness through training, not before it.

What should I wear to my first class?

A t-shirt and gym shorts or trackpants — no pockets, zips or drawstring toggles. Let us know you're coming, ideally the day before, and we'll have a gi ready for you.

Will I be sparring?

Yes — classes finish with rolling, and you'll take part. You'll be paired with someone experienced whose job is to look after you, and you can tap at any time for any reason.

Can I really train at both locations on one membership?

Yes. Sign up at Carlingford and you can also train free at INRG myBJJ Seven Hills — no second membership, no drop-in fee.
